My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and I got the chilaquiles for brunch and both plates were great! Good flavor, large portions! There was a short wait for our food but it was definitely worth it!! Our server was friendly and attentive and the ambiance was open and welcoming! Will be back to try other dishes!

Today January 11,2025 we decided to try this place close by called the District cafe. It's a very comfortable cozy place as I entered I was greeted and seated. Betty immediately offered us a variety of drinks to choose from and went over the menu in detail. There were so many mouths watering items to choose from, I decided on carnita asada. This is a meal enough to share. It came with chilaquiles (red) that had that a grandma made taste, with a perfect egg just how I make mine , beans and country potatoes and a Chile toriado. Boy if that wasn't enough a perfect cooked steak served on top Wow! It was satisfying, filling, and amazingly delicious. Definitely recommend this meal. Now my son on the hand ordered the chicken n waffles, which I had to taste ... these were scrumptious also served with sausage eggs and your choice of a variety of potatoes. He could not finish his meal and brought the rest home. But that wasn't all.... Our waitress (Betty) never stopped attending us. Then Betty asked if we would like a sample of a new menu item coming soon, we looked at each other and said sure why not. Betty brought us a sample of the Green chicken Pozole which will be on the menu starting next Saturday. This was a cup of pozole not a sample, a cup. I cook at home and I'm proud of my pozole, I don't care for any others pozole, however I was willing to taste this and I can definitely say it's good! I would come and order this. Overall my first time here , I'm so glad I came. Food is excellent, priced well, not to mention the service. This has now become my go to breakfast/ lunch spot. Good clean food. I highly recommend trying this place for yourself.

After attending a Yelp event here, I knew I had to come back! The service was fast and great :) there is a passion for what they are doing :) they have a great menu and fair prices! I ordered their chilaquiles and enjoyed them a lot! Great sauce and good eggs :) they also have vegan options and a few specials they run! Such a cute dine in experience for couple and families!

I drive by here on the way to work each morning and noticed the vegan restaurant that formerly resided here was becoming a breakfast joint. The SW is spoiled with really good breakfast and brunch spots, so I was excited to try this place. I had family in town, so we dined here on a bank holiday morning. I was overjoyed to find out that the previous owners of the vegan restaurant (Vida) are part of this restaurant venture. They even sell the branded fresh juices from Vida which I was more than happy to order. The service here is friendly just as it was at Vida. I was happy to see the menu was laconic which typically means the owners know exactly what they make well and want you to try them without distraction. I went for the pancake breakfast which included eggs, bacon, and sausage. The sausage was the better of two meats and prepared patty style which is my favorite. It was incredibly well seasoned and crumbly almost like a hash - amazing. The eggs were prepared exactly to my liking as well. But the pancakes topped everything. Whereas most places in town go for the fluffy, The District Cafe opts for the firm style on the outside that's soft on the inside. I don't know how to describe it other than it's like those Japanese style pancakes you see on social media. I'm coming back just for the pancakes. This place gets packed, so plan accordingly, as this place is tiny: Growing up, it was an Italian deli, so that should tell you about it's footprint. But they have a patio, so weather permitting, you'll find a great seat and have an excellent meal.

The District Cafe is a gem that delivers a delightful mix of flavors, impeccable service, and a warm atmosphere. I appreciate variety and quality, I was thoroughly impressed with their menu and the overall experience. Their vegan options, particularly the veggie burrito, were a standout. Packed with fresh, flavorful ingredients, it was a perfect choice for anyone seeking a plant-based meal that doesn't compromise on taste. For those craving something savory, the Chicken and Waffles were a masterpiece - crispy, juicy chicken paired with fluffy waffles, creating the ultimate comfort food on a overcast day Another must-try is the Cobbler Waffle, a sweet, indulgent dish that perfectly balances a rich cobbler topping with the airy texture of their waffles. The Heavy Duty Omelette, loaded with hearty fillings, was another highlight, satisfying even the biggest appetites. The cafe and the restrooms were spotless, showcasing a clear commitment to cleanliness and attention to detail. The welcoming atmosphere further added to the charm. All staff worked seamlessly to ensure a smooth and pleasant dining experience. Hats off the the Owners. A special mention goes to our waitress, Betty. She was an absolute delight - attentive, courteous, and genuinely invested in making sure we enjoyed our time at the cafe. Her warmth and efficiency added a personal touch that made the experience even better. In every aspect, The District Cafe excels, from its diverse menu options to its spotless environment and exceptional service. Whether you're vegan, a breakfast lover, or simply someone who appreciates good food in a welcoming setting, this cafe is a must-visit. I'll definitely be returning soon to explore more of their offerings!

I absolutely love this place! My husband is super picky when it comes to eating at new restaurants, but he approved of their chilaquiles.

Came in here for breakfast and was completely blown away with the food. I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast with country potatoes. The size portion here is perfectly on point and the food was absolutely perfect and amazing taste. The chicken fried steak was golden brown and crispy to the very last bite. The gravy has a great pepper taste and the potatoes were massive. I forgot the waiters name but the service was better than 5 out of 5 stars. Waiter pointed out specials for us for the morning as well as first time visitors and checked on us multiple times to ensure we had everything we needed. Price point was perfect and what you expect to pay for the portion sizes you receive. I definitely will come back here. They didn't not have ice tea ready this morning but I went with a watermelon lemonade which was very light and subtle and actually really good.

Just trying a new breakfast restaurant in Bakersfield. I ordered Mexican Toast it was good with spicy kick I think is was the salsa next time I would ask for it on the side French toast were good My husband had the Cuban sandwich it was with plenty of pork and the side of hot French fries delicious. Our waitress was very friendly This place wasn't noisy. Music selection was good. We would definitely be back to try lunch or early dinner. Thank you

The district Cafe is a good spot for happy hour . Super casual vibe. . I believe they have a night time happy hour; working with get it twisted potato truck from 5-9pm during the week. Good specials! That smashie burger is delicious- that sauce adds another level to the burger. Drinks are good too! Great after work spot ! Staff is friendly and accommodating!

I've been advertising this place to my husband and my co-workers since i attended the Yelp event here. So I knew where to take my mom when we wanted breakfast. It was pretty busy, and it looked as if there were only two waitresses, but my mom and I didn't mind the wait, especially because I told my mom they cooked the food from scratch. My mom ate the country fried steak meal with buscuits and gravy. She said the steak was a bit overcooked and a bit too crispy, plus they were a bit stingy with the gravy. But she loved the buscuits and the potatoes. I had the heavy-duty omelet! It was pretty good, especially the fries!
